Geolocation and mobile technology specialist mkodo has entered a new era of leadership as it prepares for the July 13 opening of Alberta’s regulated iGaming market.

The UK-based firm, owned by Pollard Banknote, announced that Co-Founder Stuart Godfree has stepped down as Managing Director, with David da Silva assuming the role effective immediately.

Focus on Reliability and Compliance

Godfree led mkodo through 25 years of growth, transitioning the firm from a mobile innovator into a globally recognized tech partner for giants like BCLC and OLG. Stuart Godfree commented on the transition:

“Reaching 25 years is a proud milestone for mkodo. The business is in a strong position… David’s leadership will ensure mkodo continues to innovate while staying focused on reliability, compliance and player experience in the world’s most regulated markets.”

The Complexities of Evolving Regulation

David da Silva will now spearhead mkodo’s expansion into high-growth territories like Brazil and Alberta. He emphasized that the firm’s proprietary tools, such as the GeoLocs solution, are essential for operators navigating increasingly strict regulatory landscapes.

“Markets like Brazil and parts of North America, most recently Alberta, Canada, show just how quickly regulation is evolving. That creates both opportunity and complexity. Our role is to help operators scale with confidence — delivering experiences players love, while meeting the highest compliance standards behind the scenes. iGaming is, at its core, an entertainment product — but one that now operates under intense regulatory scrutiny.”

With Alberta’s launch just months away, mkodo is positioning its mobile-first front-end technology as a primary tool for operators seeking to balance seamless user experience with automated compliance.
