As the global iGaming community prepares for its historic migration to the Fira Barcelona Gran Via in January 2026, Clarion Gaming has announced a decisive step towards a greener future by introducing two new initiatives.

The event organizer has unveiled two major eco-conscious programs: the Better Stands Initiative and the Most Sustainable Stand Award. These new measures are designed to challenge the status quo of exhibition culture, urging the anticipated 700+ exhibitors to prioritize environmental responsibility alongside commercial success.

The cornerstone of this movement is the Better Stands Initiative, a comprehensive global program aimed at drastically reducing the waste typically generated by temporary exhibition structures. The initiatives introduced by Clarion Gaming seeks to eliminate “build-and-burn” practices by encouraging the adoption of reusable stand architectures.

To track progress and ensure compliance, Clarion has introduced a rigorous certification framework. Exhibitors will be assessed and awarded Bronze, Silver, or Gold status based on their adherence to specific sustainability criteria, creating a transparent standard for environmental performance across the show floor.

Complementing this initiative is the Most Sustainable Stand Award, a new category within the prestigious StandOut Awards. This accolade is reserved for exhibitors who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to the cause.

Eligibility is exclusive; only those exhibitors who are on track to achieve a Gold Better Stands certificate may apply. Furthermore, applicants must submit a detailed sustainability statement.

This document must outline their holistic approach to reducing their carbon footprint, covering everything from the materials used in their stand design and their chosen methods of travel to the implementation of digital alternatives over traditional printed marketing materials.

The adjudication process will be led by Clarion Gaming’s dedicated sustainability team, who will meticulously review all participating stands. A shortlist of the top three entries will be selected, with the ultimate winner announced on January 23rd, 2026.

For iGB Affiliate exhibitors looking to lead the charge in this new era of sustainable exhibiting, participation inquiries are currently being directed to the event’s leadership team.

Naomi Barton, Portfolio Director responsible for iGB Affiliate:

“Alongside the Sustainable Stand Awards we run a range of initiatives that aim to minimise the environmental impact of our events. Through these initiatives, we aim not only to promote social and environmental responsibility in the gaming community, but also to be part of the change.”
