The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has officially been approved to provide its monitoring services in the province of Alberta, Canada.

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has officially been approved to provide its monitoring services in the province of Alberta, Canada.

This regulatory green light allows the IBIA to support licensed sportsbook operators as the province prepares for the highly anticipated opening of its regulated sports betting market on July 13.

Securing the “MAP” for Alberta

The IBIA will deploy its proprietary Global Monitoring & Alert Platform (MAP), a sophisticated tool that cross-references operator intelligence with account-level data. This enables the association to assess, detect, and report suspicious betting patterns in real-time.

By providing this layer of security, the IBIA ensures that the integrity of sporting events is protected from potential manipulation or fraud from day one of the market’s operation.

Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, shared the news via LinkedIn, stating:

“Following our existing approval in Ontario, this further strengthens IBIA’s position in Canada and helps ensure integrity monitoring is embedded into regulated markets from day one. Through IBIA’s Global Monitoring & Alert Platform, we will work alongside the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission to help identify and assess suspicious betting activity using operator intelligence and account-level data.”

A Call to Action for Operators

With Alberta following the successful regulatory framework of Ontario, the IBIA is inviting all potential licensees to collaborate on their compliance goals. Ali added:

“Any operator preparing for the new market is welcome to contact us to discuss how IBIA can support their integrity and compliance objectives.”

This approval cements Canada as a central focus for the IBIA, which represents over 50 global brands and remains the leading voice for integrity in the international betting sector.
