An event depiction representing the global reach of the new safer gambling partnership between GamblePause and Clarion Gaming.

Clarion Gaming has announced Nigeria-headquartered GamblePause as its Safer Gambling Charity Partner, a historic move that positions an African-led organization on the global stage.

This partnership covers major industry events, including ICE Barcelona, iGB Affiliate Barcelona, and iGB L!VE London.

A Mission Rooted in Lived Experience

GamblePause is an independent social impact organization dedicated to mitigating gambling-related harm across Africa through prevention, education, and rehabilitation. Founder Ladipo Abiose Akolade established the initiative based on his own history with gambling harm.

“I launched GamblePause, having personally experienced gambling-related harm for nine years,” Akolade said. “Our mission is to promote safer gambling behaviours… We aim to ensure individuals make informed choices while influencing industry practice and public policy toward responsible gambling standards”.

The organization distinguishes itself by being the first in Africa to offer free gambling rehabilitation support, removing financial barriers for vulnerable populations. They focus on regions experiencing rapid growth in online and youth gambling, collaborating with international partners in the USA, Canada, and the UK to deliver standardized recovery services.

Scaling Impact

In the past year, GamblePause has engaged over 5,500 individuals through community sessions and reached thousands of students at the University of Lagos. The partnership with Clarion Gaming provides a platform to amplify these efforts.

“Make no mistake, being named Clarion Gaming’s Safer Gambling Charity Partner is a historic milestone for everyone involved with GamblePause,” Akolade stated. “The partnership provides a global platform to amplify safer gambling messaging across Africa, and it strengthens our credibility”.

The collaboration aims to scale harm-awareness campaigns, expand rehabilitation pathways, and engage policymakers to strengthen player protection across the continent.
