West End has been issued a fine of DKK 6,928 ($1,100) for a breach of Danish gambling legislation.
The penalty comes after an investigation by the Danish Gambling Authority uncovered that the operator had been offering unlicensed gaming activities.
The incident, which took place between 27 and 31 January 2025, involved the provision of gambling on gaming machines at West End’s premises on Brårupgade 6, 7800 Skive, without the required licence.
Under Section 59(1) of the Gambling Act cf. Section 3(1), it is mandatory for all operators to obtain a licence before they can legally offer gambling services in Denmark.
This regulation is in place to ensure a fair and secure gambling environment for consumers. The Danish Gambling Authority is tasked with monitoring compliance across all licensed operators to prevent unlicensed activities and protect players.
West End has acknowledged the breach and has agreed to pay the fine. This act of cooperation with the regulatory authorities demonstrates the operator’s willingness to adhere to the legal framework.
The fine serves as a reminder to all gambling operators of the importance of regulatory compliance.
The Danish Gambling Authority has been intensifying its enforcement efforts, recently partnering with Twitch to curb illegal gambling and blocking a record 178 illegal gambling sites in June.
These actions underscore the authority’s commitment to upholding Denmark’s gambling regulations and protecting players from unlicensed operators.
