In a highly anticipated development for the European iGaming market, Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) has published a definitive list of 46 companies that have successfully advanced to the next stage of the country’s remote gaming licensing procedure.

This move represents a critical step in the comprehensive overhaul of Italy’s gambling regulations, a process that was formally initiated on March 25, 2024, bringing much-needed clarity to the landscape.

The list of approved applicants features a mix of international powerhouses and established local players, including industry giants like Betfair Italia, LeoVegas, and Greentube.

Also prominently featured are Snaitech and Sisal, two major Italian operators owned by the global betting behemoth Flutter.

The inclusion of these two Flutter-owned entities is particularly notable, as it solidifies the group’s dominant position in the market and comes after local protests were raised concerning the potential for anti-competitive cross-selling between lottery and online gaming products.

Any operator not named on the official document, signed by the Head of Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency online office, Antonio Giuliani, is now formally excluded from the licensing process.

Interestingly, Stake Italia was among the successful applicants, securing a path forward in the regulated market despite facing recent regulatory headwinds in other jurisdictions.

In contrast, Brightstar Lottery (the former IGT), which recently secured the exclusive Italian National Lottery license until 2034, was conspicuously absent.

This was expected, however, as other members of its lottery consortium, including Allwyn and Novomatic Italia, were also not listed, confirming that their operational focus remains strictly on lottery products rather than the broader remote gaming sector.
