Former Munters FoodTech VP to Join Group Management in September 2026 to Drive Organizational Transformation
Swedish state-owned gaming operator Svenska Spel has officially appointed Katarina Borstedt as its new Chief People & Culture Officer. Borstedt joins the lottery and betting operator from her previous position as VP People & Culture at Munters FoodTech, bringing a proven track record of guiding corporate leadership, team design, and human resources transformation through periods of market expansion and structural reorganization.
In her new capacity, Borstedt will integrate directly into Svenska Spel’s Group Management division and maintain a direct reporting line to the Chief Executive Officer.
Aligning HR Architecture with Sustainable Growth Strategy
The addition of Borstedt is intended to accelerate Svenska Spel’s long-term corporate roadmap, which emphasizes sustainable commercial development, elevated customer satisfaction metrics, and an inclusive work culture.
Anna Johnson, President and CEO of Svenska Spel, outlined the strategic focus behind the selection:
“I am very pleased to welcome Katarina to Svenska Spel. She has broad experience in leading HR and organizational issues in companies undergoing change and building for growth. This expertise will be important for us as we continue to develop Svenska Spel with a focus on sustainable growth, customer satisfaction and corporate culture. As Chief People & Culture Officer, Katarina will have a central role in strengthening and developing our organization, our leadership and our working methods, as well as leading transformation.”
Comprehensive Corporate Governance and Consultancy Background
Borstedt’s professional career is rooted in corporate scaling, industrial manufacturing, and human capital consulting. Prior to her tenure at Munters FoodTech, she served as Chief People & Culture Officer at Proxify and Director of Growth at battery manufacturer Northvolt. Her leadership portfolio also features senior management roles within pulp and paper manufacturing groups Ahlstrom-Munksjö and Munksjö.
Earlier in her career, she built extensive strategic depth in organizational design and HR transformation as a corporate consultant at PwC and Deloitte.
Reflecting on her new role, Borstedt commented on the intersection of HR and business results:
“I am delighted to be appointed as Chief People & Culture Officer at Svenska Spel, a company with a strong brand, exciting games and a clear purpose to give back to society. I hope to contribute with my experience of developing organizations, leadership and working methods in growth and change journeys. For me, HR is about creating conditions for employees and leaders to develop, with the customer and the business as a clear starting point.”
Svenska Spel confirmed that Borstedt will formally assume her new position in September 2026. Following her transition into the business, Joakim Karlsson, who has managed the department’s responsibilities on an acting interim basis, will return to his permanent position as Head of Talent Acquisition & Tech.
