Michigan joins the booming iGaming market of New Jersey as this state reported a surge in sports betting and online gaming, and as a result, noted a record-breaking revenue for the month of November.

In fact, November is the most successful month for Michigan in 2024 when it comes to online gaming, marking the highest monthly total of the year.

More specifically, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) reported revenue of $284.3 million from both iGaming and online sports betting for November, noting a month-on-month increase of 12.1%.

Just for comparison, in October, Michigan reported a combined gaming revenue of $253.7 million, which was the previous monthly record of The Great Lake State.

With a 2.4% increase in iGaming gross receipts, Michigan recorded $226.05 million just from this sector alone, with the adjusted gross receipt (AGR) rising by 2.4%, or to $203.3 million for online casino gaming.

When it comes to sports betting, Michigan also reported record-breaking numbers, with revenue of $58.3 million, or an increase of 83%. From here, the total sports betting handle went up by 16%, marking a whopping $650.2 million in revenue.

This marks the highest single-handle ever recorded by Michigan’s regulated online sports betting market ever since the state passed the bill to legalize online sports betting, with the adjusted gross receipt (AGR) for sports betting also marking a substantial increase of a mind-blowing 274%, or $37.1 million.

Furthermore, online gaming operators in Michigan submitted $44.4 million in fees and taxes to the state, with online sports betting contributing $1.9 million and online casino gaming adding $42.2 million.

The three active casinos in Detroit, the largest city in Michigan, reported $11.2 million in fees and municipal taxes, with $10.6 million of this amount being derived from online casino gaming and $564.069 from online sports betting.

When it comes to tribal operators, they contributed an additional $5.2 million to the governing bodies of the state of Michigan during the month of November.
