Interactive online casino platforms operated as the primary driver of digital revenue growth across Denmark during April, according to the latest official market data published by the country’s gambling regulator.

While online casino and slot machine revenues expanded, Danish sports betting revenue fell 22% year-on-year to DKK 161 million.

The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, confirmed that online casino Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) rose by 18% year-on-year in April, climbing from DKK 331 million to land at DKK 392 million.

Online Casino Generates DKK 392 Million in Gross Yield

Digital slot machines operated as the only other gambling sector in Denmark to log year-on-year growth during the April cycle, with localized revenue rising 3.2% from DKK 93 million to DKK 96 million.

Conversely, traditional land-based casino revenue fell by 9.7% year-on-year, dropping from DKK 31 million down to DKK 28 million, while land-based bingo revenue remained completely flat at a stable DKK 3 million baseline. Retail and mobile sports betting revenue encountered a severe contraction, plunging 22% year-on-year from DKK 207 million down to DKK 161 million.

Despite the sportsbook decline, the massive expansion of the online casino vertical pushed total gaming revenue across Denmark to DKK 680 million for April, representing a net annual rise of 2.3%.Sequential Monthly Revenue Reflections

However, looking at the sequential monthly comparison, total gaming revenue across Denmark fell by 7% when matched against the preceding month, dropping from DKK 731 million down to the active DKK 680 million baseline.

Even within this short-term monthly index, online casino revenue maintained its stable growth trajectory, climbing 2.1% month-on-month from DKK 308 million up to DKK 392 million. Mirroring the annual downward trend, monthly sports betting revenue encountered a major sequential reduction, falling 25.8% month-on-month from DKK 217 million down to the final DKK 161 million registered at the end of the month.
