The historic first edition of the EDGE Europe’s Gaming Expo and its partner the Irish Poker Festival Tournament is over, and just as expected, it was nothing short of legendary. In the true spirit of its progressive nature, Antonio Sapio and his fantastic team managed to create the ultimate environment for productivity, cementing EDGE as one of the top events already in its inaugural year.
What makes us particularly proud, however, is the fact that EDGE hosted this tournament in collaboration with the Irish Poker Festival, where Gamblers Connect was the official sponsor of one of the poker tournaments, the NHL Gamblers Connect Freezeout.
So, in a sense, this groundbreaking edition of EDGE was also a historic moment for Gamblers Connect, as this marked the first time ever that we were an official sponsor of an event, and even more amazing, an official gaming tournament hosted by two iGaming behemots.
The reputable Irish Poker Festival, which took place during the EDGE Europe’s Gaming Expo, had a mind-blowing €1,000,000 festival guarantee and just as impressive €750,000 prize for the main event alone, numbers that automatically puts the Irish Poker Festival right up there with the biggest and most exciting poker tournaments on the planet.
This is why we were extremely proud of the prospect of sponsoring one of the side tournaments of this leading event, given that it was a chance in a lifetime that will mark yet another monumental milestone in the rich history of our company.
With this in mind, we would like to use this opportunity to congratulate the NHL Gamblers Connect Freezout winner, Johnathan O’Flaherty!
Johnathan managed to come on top and win a hefty €4,780 out of the total €15,780 prize pool, beating 74 fellow poker enthusiasts along the way. Even more fantastic, Johnathan also won a bespoke Gamblers Connect trophy along with the main prize, fitting for a true champion.
Kudos to the Irish Poker Festival as well for designing such a beautiful and timeless piece of silverware that perfectly encapsulates the magnitude of such an event and, more importantly, for giving the worthy winners a sense of accomplishment that will stand as a testament to their poker ability long after they spend their prize money.
And finally, we cannot but congratulate the ultimate winner of the Irish Poker Festival, the champion of the Main Event and the man who took home the main prize, Mark Buckley.
As the reigning champion of the 2024 Irish Poker Festival, Mark went home with a staggering €177,000 main prize, beating his fellow poker enthusiasts along the way and proving that he is arguably one of the best poker players on the planet at the moment.
We have to give credit where credit is due and thank Antonio Sapio, his team at EDGE Europe’s Gaming Expo and the Irish Poker Festival for organizing this legendary event.
