Transforming hockey analytics and fan engagement
Through this multiyear agreement, Sofascore product and engineering teams will collaborate directly with the NHL and Sportradar to introduce advanced game visualization tools. Beginning in the current NHL season, users will experience a comprehensive suite of new metrics powered by the league’s NHL EDGE positional data and puck and player tracking systems. The integrated toolkit features play-by-play and live event mapping, next-generation shot maps detailing location, type, and quality, and innovative metrics such as Offensive Intensity and zone-based Attack Zones.
Additionally, users gain access to advanced expected-value models, including expected goals (xG) and goalie-specific expected goals. This milestone represents Sofascore’s debut in hockey, expanding a sports platform trusted by more than 120 million fans each year across 25 distinct sports.
