Multi-Layered Software Upgrade Overhauls Draw Game Lineup and Modernizes Retailer Infrastructure Across the State
Global lottery technology provider Scientific Games has officially deployed a comprehensive new suite of systems technology to power sales operations for the Arizona Lottery. The technical transition is anchored by the company’s proprietary Momentum ecosystem, delivering an integrated central gaming platform and an advanced retailer management infrastructure.
The systemic software update is engineered to enhance security protocols and streamline day-to-day lottery administration. Concurrently, the rollout overhauls the Arizona Lottery’s classic draw game portfolio to provide increased consumer value and expanded revenue opportunities for the state’s commercial partners.
Portfolio Expansion: New Mechanics and Drawings
The integration of the updated systems allows the Arizona Lottery to significantly expand its draw game options with new drawing schedules and add-on features:
- The Pick Upgrade: The state’s classic game now features an automatic multiplier on every single play, improved overall winning odds, and a brand-new instant-win add-on titled The Pick PLUS.
- Pick 3 Expansion: Introduction of a daily midday drawing to supplement the existing schedule.
- Pick 4 Launch: An entirely new game offering both midday and evening drawings every day.
- Powerball Double Play: A high-tier add-on feature that gives players a second chance to win up to $10 million via a separate drawing conducted immediately after the main Powerball drawing.
To support this expanded logistical volume, Scientific Games upgraded its gem | suite software package. This system manages the licensing, secure communications, and localized business intelligence data across the Arizona Lottery’s network of 3,600 retail stores.
Long-Term Partnership and Retail Optimization
The implementation marks another milestone in a 45-year vendor relationship between the provider and the state, during which Scientific Games has supplied Scratchers games, systems technology, and licensed brands from its local operations base in Phoenix.
Alec Thomson, Executive Director of the Arizona Lottery, highlighted the operational impact of the new infrastructure:
“Our teams have been working hard behind the scenes with the Scientific Games teams, and we are thrilled to see this project come to life. The changes to our draw games will give our players bigger value, more ways to play and even more chances to win. Ultimately, the advanced technology ecosystem modernizes our operations and positions the Arizona Lottery for future growth.”
John Schulz, President of Americas & Global Instant Products at Scientific Games, noted the system’s role in supporting state programs:
“As the Arizona Lottery’s systems technology partner since 2015, Scientific Games is focused on readying the Lottery for long-term sustainability through advanced systems and software, and exciting new products that engage players and drive proceeds to the good cause programs that benefit Arizonans.”
