The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) is launching two dedicated public awareness campaigns in early November designed to foster open discussions surrounding betting activities and promote the national Gambling Stop program.
Titled OpenOverGokken and Gambling Stop, the initiatives aim to prevent gambling-related harm by encouraging proactive family conversations and simplifying the process of self-exclusion for vulnerable individuals. Both campaigns underscore the core message that seeking assistance or starting a dialogue does not have to be an intimidating or complicated process.
OpenOverGokken: Encouraging timely family conversations
With young people encountering betting exposure across social media, online videos, commercial advertisements, and video games, parents frequently struggle to understand what their children absorb or how to initiate meaningful discussions. To bridge this gap, the expanded OpenOverGokken campaign specifically targets parents of teenagers and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25.
The campaign features young people sharing how their parents comfortably address sensitive life topics such as personal safety and relationships, while posing the critical question of why gambling remains unaddressed. Utilizing the core call to action, “Talk to your child about gambling in time too,” the initiative urges parents to open up dialogue even in the absence of immediate warning signs or behavioral red flags. Building upon the foundational launch of OpenOverGokken.nl in 2025, the independent platform continues to supply reliable educational materials and practical conversation tools for families.
Gambling Stop: Relatable moments for decisive action
Beyond preventive education, the Ksa is prioritizing timely intervention for individuals already encountering gambling-related challenges. The renewed Gokstop campaign focuses primarily on young adults experiencing gambling difficulties or elevated risk levels, while also educating loved ones on how they can facilitate that crucial first step.
Centered around the tagline, “Every moment is a Gambling Stop moment,” the campaign shifts away from the narrative that individuals must wait for a major life crisis before seeking help. Instead, it demonstrates that a decision to pause or cease betting can occur during ordinary, everyday routines.
By highlighting relatable scenarios, the Gaming Authority seeks to make self-exclusion as accessible as possible while illustrating the positive benefits of taking action, including restored peace of mind, relief from stress, and renewed focus on daily life.
