Performance marketing and affiliate giant Gentoo Media has confirmed the formal resignation of its Chief Financial Officer, Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen. The company has actively initiated an executive search to identify his long-term successor.
Transitioning to a Leaner, More Focused Infrastructure
While neither Gentoo nor Albrechtsen publicly disclosed the underlying motivation driving his departure, corporate leadership emphasized that the separation is highly amicable. Albrechtsen originally joined the media organization in March of last year, steering the financial separation from Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), which now operates exclusively as a B2B platform technology provider.
Gentoo’s board noted that Albrechtsen played an essential structural role in building the group’s standalone corporate identity, noting that the enterprise has successfully transitioned into a leaner and more focused platform model. Prior to his tenure at Gentoo, Albrechtsen built an extensive career track within Denmark’s professional financial sector, serving as a corporate partner and certified public accountant for Deloitte, following a five-year stint as a director within the specialized Midmarket division at PwC Copenhagen.
The high-level leadership transition occurs immediately after Gentoo Media posted a 5% year-on-year drop in Q1 revenues. The top-line correction accompanied an intentional corporate restructuring that affected 41 digital jobs through the definitive closure of its Atlas SEO office in Norwich, England. While 15 redundant team members were absorbed into alternative operational divisions, two senior director roles were completely eliminated to lower systemic cost structures.
Ensuring a Responsible Handover Portfolio
Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen expressed gratitude regarding his deployment cycle with the digital media group:
“I am grateful for the time I have spent at Gentoo Media and look forward to contributing to a smooth transition during the coming period.”
Gentoo Media CEO Jonas Warrer praised the outgoing executive for building more robust financial processes during a time of intense corporate transformation:
“We would like to thank Mads for his dedication and collaboration during a period of significant change for Gentoo Media. Mads has played an important role in the transformation initiated in 2025, including strengthening financial processes, supporting the company’s strategic realignment and helping build a leaner and more focused organisation.
As Gentoo Media now enters its next phase, we are maintaining a constructive dialogue regarding the upcoming transition and share a common commitment to ensuring a stable and responsible handover for the benefit of the company, its employees and other stakeholders.”
