The new licensing framework of Brazil states that a single definitive license approval requires a $5.2 million (R$30 million) payment and is valid for the next five years. Moreover, by obtaining such a license, the companies are allowed to operate up to three betting platforms/brands under the domain “.bet.br”.
When it comes to regulatory guidelines and approvals in Brazil, more than 5,200 illegal gambling websites have been taken down since October 2024 through a joint effort between the SPA and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) of Brazil.
In light of this development, the Brazilian government has implemented a strict four-stage review protocol for new license holders that mandates stern security measures, compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, and responsible gambling protocols.
