According to the latest State Online Gaming Market report, the online gaming market in Spain experienced significant growth in 2024, with gross gaming revenue (GGR) rising by 17.61% to reach €1.45 billion ($1.58 billion).

The surge in revenue was followed by increases in both deposits and withdrawals, which grew by 19.62% and 19.73%, respectively, numbers that show that the market in Spain is on the rise.

Moreover, marketing investments reached €526.30 million for the year, which is a 30.36% increase from 2023, where the expenditure was allocated across various channels, including affiliates (€56.32 million), advertising, sponsorships, and promotions.

From here, advertising costs alone saw a 37.17% increase, whereas promotional costs also rose by 30.84%.

Additionally, the number of active players reached nearly two million (1,992,889) in 2024, marking a 21.71% increase compared to 2023.

Sports betting in Spain was the strongest performer, recording a 23.80% increase for FY24, while online casino gaming followed closely with a 16.96% growth, with online slots being the key contributor..

Bingo also noticed a 3.96% increase in revenue, yet poker underperformed by recording a 4.99% decline in GGR.

This drop was due to diminished participation in tournament poker, which alone makes up 73.58% of the revenue. As a result, tournament poker saw a 3.48% decline, whereas cash poker declined by 8.97%, making for 26.42% of the market share.
