Tipico Sportwetten, the number one operator in Germany, has extended its sponsorship with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) in a deal that will see the leading brand remain the principal partner of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 until 2029.

Tipico Sportwetten first partnered with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) back in 2018, becoming the official sponsor of the top two football divisions in Germany. The agreement was signed three years before the German government introduced the Fourth Interstate Gambling Treaty (GlüNeuRStv), thus regulating online gambling in all 16 Bundesländer of the country.

In an official statement, the DFL hailed the sponsorship extension deal and remarked that this is a vital partnership that undeniably plays a “key role in supporting the legal market in Germany”.

The Director of Commercial Partnerships at Bundesliga International GmbH, Tobias Thöne, said that the top German football league is delighted with the prospect of extending the fruitful collaboration that is primarily “built on mutual trust”.

We’re thrilled to extend this long-standing collaboration built on mutual trust. Over the years, Tipico has proven itself as a highly professional and reliable partner with a deep passion for football.

Similarly, Tipcio Sportwetten also expressed excitement about the renewal, underlining the fact that the leading operator supported all levels of German football for more than two decades.

Kajetan Strini-Brown, Director of Sports Brand at Tipico, said that the company, which is also the sponsor of the DFB-Pokal is “incredibly proud” to extend the sponsorship with the top football leagues and the DFB-Pokal, highlighting the partnership as a strategic move that guides German customers to the legal market.

We’re incredibly proud to continue our partnership with the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga! German football is at the heart of what we do, and that passion has always been deeply embedded in our DNA as a company. This extension is a key part of our strategic partnerships, which also include the DFB-Pokal, another major German football brand. Sponsorship, and the visibility it brings, play an important role in guiding customers to the legal market.

Under the new agreement, the German operator will proceed to use the logos of both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 competitions, as well as the two championship trophies (Meisterschalen) in its advertising.

Finally, Tipico will retain exclusive advertising rights, including a “Matching Offer Right” for special advertisement formats with German partners, first-access rights in DFL media contracts, as well as exclusivity in the German betting industry
