The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has officially announced that its current online gaming portal will not be returned to service.
Ensuring regulatory continuity amid infrastructure overhaul
The discontinuation of the digital platform also entails the conclusion of all associated service arrangements supporting the system. The move follows recent security measures implemented by the regulator in response to an unauthorized access incident and data leak.
The CGA is actively taking necessary steps to transition away from its legacy platform and associated services while safeguarding the continuity of its core regulatory functions. Acknowledging the pivotal role the portal played in supporting Curaçao’s online gaming sector reform since 2024, the regulator emphasized that the shutdown does not compromise the legal validity of existing licenses or operator compliance obligations.
Supervisory and supervisory oversight activities remain fully active, operating through alternative arrangements while an interim solution is rolled out to handle ongoing license processing. Further operational details regarding these interim measures are targeted for release no later than October 9, 2026. Additionally, because the availability of the current digital seal has been impacted, the CGA confirmed it will shortly introduce an alternative verification mechanism for licensed domains.
Addressing security and data integrity
Alongside the platform migration, the CGA continues its active response to the recent unauthorized access incident. Efforts remain focused on containing the data leak and protecting the integrity of the jurisdiction regulatory functions and information assets. While acknowledging potential operational challenges for licensees during the transition, the regulator expressed appreciation for industry cooperation and confirmed further updates will be issued as additional information becomes available.
