Philippine Gaming Operator Focuses on Customer Fund Returns and Compliance Amid Provisional Decree
Philippine gaming operator DigiPlus Interactive Corp. has announced that Brazil’s sudden ban on online fixed-odds betting is not anticipated to have a material impact on its overall financial or operating position. Following a provisional measure signed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on September 25, the company stated it is taking immediate steps to comply with government directives while prioritizing the orderly return of customer funds.
In an official statement released on September 28, DigiPlus emphasized that its primary focus is ensuring players can withdraw their balances on time within the mandated government period. The company noted that the regulatory situation remains fluid, subject to ongoing legal and legislative procedures that require congressional review before becoming permanent law.
Strict Timetable Set for Platform Shutdowns and Fund Returns
The provisional measure, backed by Brazil’s Health Ministry due to gambling-related health and social concerns, prohibits sports betting and online games, though pre-existing authorized lottery categories are exempt. The decree has established a strict compliance timeline:
- September 25: New deposits were immediately prohibited.
- October 5 (11:59 p.m.): Deadline for players to voluntarily withdraw remaining account balances.
- October 6: Betting websites and mobile applications must completely cease operations.
- October 9 to October 14: Mandated window for banks to return any unwithdrawn balances to customers.
Brazil marked DigiPlus‘s first overseas market entry when it soft-launched its GamePlus platform on September 22, 2025, though operations were temporarily paused weeks later to better tailor products to local players. DigiPlus confirmed it will continue monitoring ongoing legislative developments as it fulfills compliance and customer reimbursement requirements.
