Game Developer Expands Its Canadian Footprint Following Regulatory Approval from the AGLC
Casino game developer Amusnet has strengthened its presence in Canada after securing a conditional licence from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). The milestone follows a similar regulatory approval granted earlier this year in Ontario, further cementing the studio’s strategic expansion across North America.
Alberta’s Market Growth and Launch Landscape
Formally launched on July 13 and overseen by the AGLC, Alberta’s regulated iGaming market has drawn intense commercial interest. While 22 operators went live on day one alongside the state-owned Play Alberta platform, more than 50 operators have registered with the AGLC and the Alberta iGaming Corporation to tap into a market estimated by H2 Gambling Capital to generate CA$850 million annually.
Major international brands such as bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars have entered the jurisdiction. Initial performance data from bet365 indicated strong player engagement across a diverse mix of keno, jackpot-style games, and established slot franchises during the market’s opening weeks.
To operate within this high-potential landscape, suppliers like Amusnet must satisfy strict regulatory compliance, technical security, and responsible gaming criteria mandated by the AGLC.
