Regional Administrative Court Refers Case to Full Panel for Final Hearing Scheduled on August 25, 2026
The Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has rejected an urgent request filed by Polymarket to suspend the order issued by the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) on July 10, which mandated the blocking of its Italian website. In a decree signed by the president of the Fourth Third Section, the judge determined that the case requires due consideration by the entire panel of judges and therefore must be evaluated during a final hearing scheduled for August 25, 2026.
The court noted that the requirement of extreme urgency necessary to grant an immediate suspension is lacking, ruling out a decision by the president alone. Consequently, the ADM site blocking order remains in full effect until the panel reviews the matter.
Sponsorship Fallout With Lazio
The ongoing regulatory blackout on Polymarket has had immediate commercial consequences for the platform, triggering the near-immediate termination of its three-year sponsorship agreement with football club Lazio. Despite the cancellation, the platform is still set to pay the club a partial sum stipulated within the contract.
The court’s current decree does not rule on the underlying legitimacy of the ADM measure, instead deferring all formal assessments of the blackout order to the full panel hearing later this month.
