Betfred has reaffirmed its commitment to professional darts, announcing a five-year extension of its title sponsorship for the World Matchplay and Women’s World Matchplay tournaments.

The new agreement ensures the iconic betting brand will remain the face of the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) premier summer events through at least 2030.

The partnership, which first began in 2019, will now span more than a decade. The deal also includes the Women’s World Matchplay, which has been part of Betfred’s sponsorship portfolio since the tournament’s inception in 2022.

The announcement comes just ahead of the 2025 tournament in Blackpool, which features a star-studded lineup including defending champion Luke Humphries and current World Champion Luke Littler.

Fred Done, Founder of Betfred, commented on the long-standing collaboration.

The Betfred World Matchplay is one of the highlights of the year – I love the seaside party atmosphere coupled with top quality sport. We’re delighted to extend our sponsorship with the PDC for another five years, during an exciting period for darts as a sport. The quality of the field has never been stronger, and we can only see these tournaments continuing to grow in the coming years.

As part of the renewed terms, the prize funds for both events will see a significant increase starting in 2026. The men’s prize fund will rise to £1 million, while the women’s will grow to £40,000.

PDC CEO Matt Porter added:

Betfred have become synonymous with the World Matchplay since joining us as title sponsor in 2019, and it’s wonderful that they’ve extended that support for a further five years. Their backing of the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay echoes their commitment to the sport, and we’re excited that prize money for both events will increase from 2026. This year’s Betfred World Matchplay sold out in record time following the huge success of our 2024 tournament, and we can’t wait to get back to Blackpool alongside Betfred next week.
