Standing as a landmark beside the Cibeles Palace, local lore suggests the fountain possesses the power to completely flood the Bank of Spain’s gold chamber in the event of a security breach. While no literal flooding occurred, the casino saw a massive influx of players arriving from across the globe for another high-volume day of the PartyPoker Tour Madrid 2026.
At 4:00 PM, the €50,000 GTD Mini Main Event continued with Day 1B, which successfully attracted an impressive 314 entries. By the end of the session, only 47 players managed to secure their progression to Day 2. The field featured several notable professionals, including Joe Beevers, a PartyPoker Tour Team member and co-founder of The Hendon Mob, as well as tour regular Steffan Stroffek. Both successfully navigated the flight to enter Day 2. Less fortunate participants included Niall “firaldo” Farrell and Franky Green, though neither needs to panic given the additional flights remaining on the Madrid schedule.
The chip lead for Day 1B was claimed by Irish player Angela Rogan, who bagged 823,000 chips. She was followed by Germany’s Fred Wulff with 686,000 and local competitor Jose Miguel Del Olmo with 663,000. Later that evening at 9:00 PM, the Day 1C Turbo flight saw further action, attracting 148 entries and sending 22 players to the next stage. Nan Min ended the flight as chip leader with 569,000, followed by Ruben Garcia Martin on 499,000 and Marc Vigo Gaitan with 476,000. The turnout proved that the Spanish capital remains incredibly hungry for poker.
