According to the Annual Report, during 2023/24, the National Gambling Helpline of GameCare registered a total of 55,228 online chats and calls from individuals who experienced gambling-related harm, noting a 25% increase when compared to the previous year.

This surge only underlines the pressing issues related to harmful gambling behaviour, as well as the critical role played by GamCare in battling gambling addiction and addressing these concerns.

Moreover, GamCare reported that out of the total 55,228 Helpline interactions, 74%, or 41,070 chats and calls, were categorized as “supportive interventions”, being classified as the first step toward providing guidance, immediate advice, and efficient treatment.

The success of GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline can be seen in the fact that those players who have completed their treatment have reported visible improvements, including a reduction in financial difficulties and similar gambling-related struggles.
