malta gaming authority winzon license cancellation

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has officially revoked the gaming license of Winzon Group Limited, effective immediately.

The decision, taken under regulation 10(2)(b) of the compliance framework, follows a series of unresolved operational shortcomings and repeated breaches of the Gaming Act.

Mandatory Refunds and Shutdown Procedures

Winzon, which operated a network of online casinos including Comix Casino and Betrocker, is now legally required to:

  • Notify all players of the cancellation via email and web banners for 30 days.
  • Refund all outstanding player balances in accordance with the Gaming Act.
  • Remove all MGA branding and licensing claims from its active platforms.

The company must submit bank statements to the regulator to confirm that all player funds have been successfully returned. Notably, the official winzon.com website is already inactive, and attempts to reach the group for comment have gone unanswered.

Significant Financial Liabilities

Alongside the license cancellation, the MGA has issued a massive financial demand. Winzon must pay €46,693.23 in outstanding license fees and compliance contributions. Furthermore, the regulator has imposed administrative penalties totaling €147,080 for the cumulative regulatory breaches discovered during the investigation.

The MGA has stated it will pursue further legal action to recover these funds if the group fails to comply. Reports from iGamingToday indicate that while the URLs for Winzon’s former casinos are still accessible, sign-up links now redirect users to new platforms operated by Curacao-based companies, signaling a total exit of the brand from the Maltese regulated ecosystem.
