Expanding Real-Money Gaming Footprint Into Canada

Hard Rock Bet has officially entered Ontario’s regulated gambling market, marking the brand’s first international expansion outside of the United States. With this launch, Ontario becomes Hard Rock Bet’s 11th real-money gaming market overall and the third jurisdiction where it offers both sports betting and online casinos.

The platform manages separate apps for sportsbooks and casinos, featuring a catalog of over 3,000 online slots, table games, and live dealer titles. Furthermore, the platform integrates technology from Playtech, in which Hard Rock Digital holds a minority stake.

Executive Perspectives and Market Dynamics

Marlon Goldstein, CEO of Hard Rock Bet, commented:

“We’re excited to introduce Ontario players to a premium entertainment experience that reflects the energy and service synonymous with the Hard Rock brand. By investing in local talent, partnerships, and customer support, we’re creating an experience designed specifically for Ontario players.”

Ontario’s iGaming landscape continues to experience rapid growth, with operators generating $4 billion in revenue in 2025, a 34% year-on-year increase, while cumulative wagers reached $98.3 billion (up 26% from 2024). Operating under a dual-agency framework managed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and iGaming Ontario (iGO), the province remains one of North America’s most lucrative regulated jurisdictions. However, competition remains intense, with prominent brands like Coolbet, Unibet, Fitzdares, and Rivalry having previously departed due to compliance costs and sustainability challenges.

Meanwhile, Alberta is rapidly developing as Canada’s next key frontier, recording consumer spending of $1.28 billion in the 12 months leading up to June 2026 across 25 gambling sites. Entain has expanded its presence in the region by launching BetMGM, Sports Interaction, and Party Casino.

An Entain spokesperson noted:

“Ontario demonstrated the benefits of a well-regulated, competitive market, and Alberta has the foundations to build on that success. With Sports Interaction, BetMGM and Party Casino, we are bringing a compelling, responsible and high-quality offering to players.”
