Resorts World New York City Leads Earnings Surge Following Successful Table Games Launch
Genting Malaysia’s United States Q2 2026 casino operations are projected to account for up to 36% of the company’s total group-wide EBITDA by 2027, according to an analysis by Maybank Investment Bank. This anticipated financial leap is primarily anchored by the robust performance of Resorts World New York City, which expanded into full casino operations with the introduction of table games in April 2026.
Alongside Resorts World New York City, Genting Malaysia’s broader U.S. portfolio includes Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Hudson Valley. Maybank analyst Samuel Yin Shao Yang expressed strong optimism regarding the New York property’s trajectory following an exceptional quarterly financial improvement across the region.
Significant Surge in U.S. EBITDA and Revenue Growth
The financial impact of the new table games rollout was immediate. EBITDA from Genting Malaysia’s U.S. division surged by 169% quarter-on-quarter, reaching MYR 216.6 million (approx. US$53.6 million).
The catalyst for this growth stems from December 2025, when Genting Malaysia secured one of three full casino licenses for downstate New York. Launching operations on April 28, 2026, Resorts World New York City became the first of the three licensees to introduce table games to the market. Crucially, its competing licensees, Hard Rock Metropolitan Park and Bally’s Bronx, are not projected to open their respective resort facilities until 2030. This timeline grants Genting Malaysia a lucrative four-year window operating without direct table-games competition within the immediate regional market.
Market demand has responded enthusiastically. Weekly table games gross gaming revenue (GGR) at Resorts World New York City has more than doubled since the launch, climbing from US$4.94 million in its opening week to US$9.87 million by the week ending August 9, 2026. Maybank noted that GGR has continued an upward trajectory through the third quarter as operations scale up. To accommodate this demand, the property plans to expand its total table count to 400 by early 2027, a deployment that will include high-end VIP tables.
Expanding U.S. Earnings Contribution and Strategic Outlook
Buoyed by the rapid expansion of table games and steady GGR growth, Maybank forecasts that the U.S. segment will skyrocket from a 16% contribution in FY25 to represent 36% of total group EBITDA by FY27. This shift cements the U.S. division as a cornerstone of Genting Malaysia’s long-term earnings growth, reinforcing Maybank’s decision to maintain its “BUY” recommendation and positive financial estimates for the operator.
With Resorts World New York City driving momentum through its multi-year competitive advantage and planned table capacity increases, Genting Malaysia is well-positioned to maximize its market share across the North American entertainment landscape.
