allwyn opap merger athens stock

Global lottery operator Allwyn has officially achieved a major strategic milestone by commencing trading on the Athens Stock Exchange.

This listing marks the successful completion of its merger with the Greek national lottery operator OPAP, creating a consolidated gaming powerhouse with a combined valuation of €16 billion.

A Relationship Built on Innovation

The merger builds upon a relationship between OPAP and Allwyn’s parent, KKCG Group, dating back to 2013. While most shareholders approved the deal, approximately 6.7% cashed out at €19.04 per share. Allwyn has signaled that this is only the first step in its public journey, with potential secondary listings in London or New York currently under consideration.

CEO Robert Chvátal celebrated the launch:

“The business begins its journey as a publicly traded global leader with a strengthened platform, enhanced financial flexibility and a world-class team. We are very confident that our leading market positions… position us well to drive sustainable growth.”

Karel Komarek, Allwyn founder and KKCG chair, echoed this sentiment:

“Today, Allwyn moves into a new chapter – one that builds on the momentum that already characterises our business… we have the strategic clarity, scale, capabilities and ambition to define the future of the industry.”

Expansion and Market Growth

This milestone follows a successful 2025, where Allwyn reported a 4% revenue increase to €8.99 billion. The company has aggressively expanded its US footprint through the acquisition of PrizePicks, although it recently pulled out of a Novibet acquisition in Greece due to antitrust concerns. Allwyn remains focused on leveraging its enhanced financial flexibility to dominate the evolving consumer entertainment landscape.
