Extending Fantasy Football Sponsorship in London
Midnite announced on July 30 in London that it has renewed its partnership with The Sun Dream Team, extending its sponsorship of the iconic fantasy football game into a second consecutive season. Originally launched in 1999, The Sun Dream Team will run through the 2026/27 domestic and European football calendar, featuring a competitive £60,000 top prize.
Participants select professional footballers across the Premier League, domestic cups, and major European tournaments, including the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, and Europa League. Points are accumulated based on real-world match actions such as goals, assists, clean sheets, and appearances exceeding 60 minutes, with additional bonus points awarded via Player Performance Marks determined by Sun journalists.
Executive Perspectives
Andrew Mook, Midnite’s Head of Brand Marketing, stated:
“After a successful first season of the partnership, we are delighted to be a part of one of the UK’s most iconic fantasy football games for another season by extending our agreement with The Sun Dream Team. Fantasy football is such an important part of the football fan’s experience of the game throughout the season, providing additional excitement to games where punters are hoping their chosen player will score that all important goal or secure a valuable clean sheet. We want to be part of that experience and make it even better. This, on top of our recent announcements with Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, demonstrates our determination to give something back to the world of football and make sure we are bringing fans closer to the game.”
Owen Griffiths, The Sun’s Director of Commercial Revenues, added:
“We are thrilled to partner with Midnite for a second season. The Sun Dream Team is the fantasy football destination for UK fans. Following a vintage World Cup, all eyes will be on the coming domestic season. And with a top prize of £60,000 to play for, Dream Team will be more competitive as ever. Midnite is fast becoming one of the more prominent names associated with football, and we very much look forward to working with the team for another season. Together, we can make the 2026/27 season one to remember for football fans, and we wish the best of luck to all players.”
Strategic Sports Marketing Portfolio
This renewal forms part of Midnite‘s broader expansion within sports marketing and high-profile team sponsorships. Alongside its digital gaming offerings, the brand continues to anchor its market presence through strategic alignments across British football and major sporting events, reinforcing its commitment to engaging sports enthusiasts throughout the calendar year.
