Over 2,600 Students Benefit from Newly Renovated Multi-Purpose Courts and Synthetic Turf Pitch
More than 2,600 students attending the educational campus of Protectora de la Infancia (Child Protection) in Puente Alto can once again utilize their campus sports fields following a comprehensive infrastructure recovery project. The refurbishment successfully restored three multi-purpose courts and a synthetic grass field, addressing improvements the foundation had sought for several years.
The renovation work was made possible through financial contributions provided by Polla Chilena de Beneficencia. The project encompassed extensive repair and painting tasks, transforming the sports areas into safe, modern facilities for student physical education classes, extracurricular workshops, and daily recreational activities.
Supporting Vulnerable Youth and Educational Communities
The Children’s Protection Foundation is a historic organization with over 130 years of experience dedicated to fostering the development and well-being of children and young people, particularly those in vulnerable situations. Situated on a sprawling 20-hectare campus, the facilities house two primary schools and two vocational schools serving more than 2,600 students. Combined with its preschools and social programs, the foundation’s network supports over 8,000 children and youth.
Reflecting on the successful completion of the project, Demián Arancibia, General Manager of Polla Chilena de Beneficencia, stated:
“Polla was founded with a charitable purpose, and that commitment is in our DNA. That’s why it’s especially meaningful for us to see how the resources generated by our activities are transformed into concrete benefits for people. Today we see it in these four renovated courts, which are once again available to more than 2,600 students—spaces they can enjoy and use every day. It’s a concrete expression of the social role that Polla has fulfilled since its inception and that we continue to promote to this day.”
Echoing this sentiment, Alejandra Canessa, General Manager of the Children’s Protection Agency, emphasized the broader developmental impact:
“Our purpose is to change the lives of the children and young people we care for and educate. These renovated courts are not just spaces for playing sports; they are places where students learn to share, work as a team, and grow with discipline and effort. This is a great step forward, and we thank Polla Chilena de Beneficencia for making it possible. We still have several challenges ahead, such as roofing one of these courts or building a gymnasium, so we are calling on other companies to join this project: our dream is to make this campus the most important educational and sports space in all of Puente Alto.”
Statutory Funding and Social Impact
The Children’s Protection Society is one of 13 charitable institutions that receives ongoing funding from Polla Chilena de Beneficencia under statutory requirements governing the state-owned lottery company. By law, a designated portion of the financial resources generated by the company is distributed directly to beneficiary organizations, enabling them to finance vital social initiatives across the country.
