Tebex Integrates Paysafe’s Centralized Payment Gateway to Deploy Alternative Checkout Solutions
Global payments platform Paysafe (NYSE: PSFE) has announced an expanded strategic partnership with Tebex, an established game monetization extension and growth platform serving game servers and studios. Under the updated framework, Tebex has integrated the Paysafe Gateway directly into its platform ecosystem. The engineering upgrade enables video game merchants to offer true checkout optionality to end-users, moving beyond traditional card processing to deploy a comprehensive matrix of alternative payment methods (APMs).
Technical Integration and Alternative Payment Mechanics
The expanded collaboration builds upon a long-term transaction framework established in 2016, when the Tebex Checkout first embedded Paysafe’s flagship prepaid eCash solution, paysafecard. Through this latest implementation, a single, streamlined integration via the Paysafe API connects Tebex to the provider’s entire suite of financial products. This centralized framework delivers high-speed credit and debit card processing, completing transactions within seconds to secure an uninterrupted user experience.
The integration also activates an array of branded APMs, highlighted by the immediate rollout of Paysafe’s Openbucks solution within the Tebex Checkout. Holding substantial brand recognition across the United States video gaming market, Openbucks provides a localized payment bridge for cash-preferring users. The solution enables gamers to pay online with cash by redeeming major third-party brand gift cards, purchasable in-store across a retail network of more than 67,000 physical locations, or via Openbucks’ own Obucks digital card, distributed online through authorized resellers.
By matching localized preferences, the system removes international checkout friction and elevates player conversion rates across highly fragmented gaming sub-markets.
Operational Support and Global Commercial Scaling
By functioning as a scalable technical layer for independent gaming studios and corporate networks, the platform expansion aims to strip legal and operational compliance burdens away from video game developers.
Zak Cutler, President of Global Gaming at Paysafe, commented on the market dynamics and monetization benefits yielded by the expanded checkout capabilities:
“We’re delighted to broaden our partnership with Tebex. In a highly competitive market, video game creatives need to satisfy gamers’ increasingly diverse transactional expectations. By connecting the Tebex Checkout to an exhaustive range of payment options, including recognizable brands like our Openbucks solution, the Paysafe Gateway will give Tebex and its customers an edge when it comes to streamlining, simplifying and ultimately optimizing the monetization of gaming.”
Liam Wiltshire, Vice President and General Manager of Tebex, highlighted the strategic role of checkout architectures in fostering long-term player retention:
“At Tebex, we know payments are more than a transaction. They’re a critical part of how studios build relationships with their players and grow their games. Acting as an extension of the studio, our role is to remove the complexity of global payments, compliance, and support so teams can focus on creating amazing experiences. Expanding our partnership with Paysafe allows Tebex to offer greater choice and flexibility at checkout, helping our partners reach more players, reduce friction, and unlock new opportunities for growth.”
