The Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC) of Misiones has made history by officially incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its regulatory framework.
The move makes IPLyC the first lottery authority in Argentina to use machine learning to detect and mitigate both illegal gambling and problematic player behavior.
Monitoring for Impulsivity and Fraud
The new AI suite is engineered to identify specific risk behaviors in real-time, including:
- Suspicious Micro-betting: Identifying patterns that suggest robotic or fraudulent play.
- Loss Chasing: Detecting repetitive betting immediately following a losing streak.
- Frequency Anomalies: Monitoring the duration and intensity of gambling sessions.
Automated Interventions
Unlike traditional reporting, this system allows for immediate automated responses. When a player triggers an AI alert for compulsive behavior, the platform can instantly encourage them to stop, temporarily suspend their access, or offer a direct consultation with a mental health professional.
To support the social side of this initiative, IPLyC has signed a cooperation agreement with the L.E.A. Foundation (Lugar por la Educación Argentina). This partnership focuses on academic research and training personnel to tackle gambling risks among students and young people.
By transitioning from reactive to preventive regulation, Misiones is setting a new technological benchmark for the entire Latin American iGaming sector.
