The II National Technical Meeting showcased significant milestones achieved by the working group established under Interministerial Ordinance No. 1/2025. A primary achievement highlighted was the formalization of the National Policy for the Prevention and Combating of Sports Manipulation (Interministerial Ordinance No. 1/2026), which provides a structured framework for activities aimed at neutralizing illegal match-fixing.
Technological innovation has also become a cornerstone of Brazil’s defense. The Brazilian Federal Police have introduced an automated system designed to analyze suspicious wagering activities and strategically organize data. This tool is considered a vital element of the national infrastructure intended to detect and deter manipulation in real-time.
Practical Implementation and Training Initiatives
Participants also celebrated the release of the updated National Manual for Combating Sports Manipulation. This second version serves as an essential guide for various institutions, outlining practical enforcement activities and specific investigative procedures to be followed during integrity probes.
To ensure long-term effectiveness, the government is prioritizing capacity building through new educational avenues:
- National Police Academy: Has launched its first distance learning course focused on the prevention and suppression of match-fixing.
- Intelligence Distribution: Authorities will continue to produce and share strategic intelligence and host regular technical workshops.
- Permanent Cooperation: The goal is to form a lasting network with integrity agencies to facilitate rapid responses to suspicious alerts.
