Global compliance giant Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has completed a series of high-level meetings with prominent state regulators, academic experts, and trade groups in Seoul, South Korea.
The technical discussions focused on resolving pressing regulatory challenges, advancing responsible gambling initiatives, and updating product certification models across the country’s casino sector.
Strengthening Casino Certification and System Frameworks
According to corporate briefs published via its official media channels, the specialized delegation from South Korea was led by Richard Howarth, Managing Director of GLI for Asia Pacific, alongside Paulo Batalha Da Silva, Regulatory Development Manager. The compliance team engaged directly with key stakeholders who hold direct legislative influence over the future architecture of South Korean gaming regulations, product testing, and system certifications.
A focal point of the compliance campaign involved an official meeting with Lee Jin-sik, the Secretary General of the National Gambling Control Commission. GLI confirmed that the specialized dialogue centered entirely on improving international regulatory best practices through the strengthening of product certification frameworks, auditing standards, and security protocols for advanced casino systems.
To integrate academic research with practical compliance models, the GLI delegation met with Professor Seo Wonseok of Kyung Hee University, who supplied valuable academic data regarding South Korea’s evolving legislative landscape and changing consumer protection trends.
Advancing Responsible Gambling with the Korea Casino Association
The technical visit also included extensive corporate workshops with the Korea Casino Association, the principal industry trade body representing licensed land-based venues within the territory. The meetings featured close collaboration with General Manager Lee Jeong-Haeng and Assistant Manager Sang Hwa Lee, looking closely at how South Korean casino resorts can continue to optimize automated responsible gambling tools, accelerate casino software testing, and maintain elite system performance standards across their gaming floors.
The certification body reiterated its long-term commitment to supplying continuous technical support, mathematical analysis, and automated security auditing to Asian regulators, industry trade groups, and academic researchers. GLI’s extensive agenda in Seoul highlights the diverse array of public and private parties required to effectively coordinate compliance and drive innovation within South Korea’s highly controlled casino landscape.
