The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has pursued further enforcement action against a new batch of illegal online gambling operators who took part in providing illegal gambling activities during Q1 of 2025.
After a thorough investigation, which was a result of a high volume of public reports, the ACMA identified 61 illegal/unlicensed operators and blocked them from operating within the Australian regulated market.
More specifically, the ACMA received a total of 350 reports between January and March 2025, and out of that number, 283 were deemed legal after being probed under the Australian Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
The ACMA conducted a total of 22 investigations, which involved 25 gambling websites, and found 33 breaches, noting that all of these websites had made at least one breach of the Interactive Gambling Act.
From here, the authority found 20 cases of operators providing illegal interactive gambling services, 12 instances of operators offering illegal regulated services, and one instance where an operator breached advertising laws.
As a result, the ACMA issued twelve formal warnings to several providers operating within the country, including Leon Casino, CoinPoker, and Woo Casino, among others, all of whom were found guilty of breaching the Gambling Act.
Consequently, the Australian authority requested internet service providers to block 61 of these websites, and has even made efforts to report the websites to providers of family-friendly filters. The ACMA concluded that most of these 61 websites offered online casino services without possessing an Australian gaming license.
The ACMA encourages Australians to report suspicious illegal gambling activities directly on the official website of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
In related news, the Australian Communications and Media Authority has been on a constant mission to deter illegal gambling operators operating within the country by continuously blocking unlicensed casinos and affiliate operators.
Just recently, the ACMA found four illegal gambling operators, Mega Medusa, TF2Royal, Casino Intense, and Megabet Prize, all of which will be blocked during the month of April. For reference, the Australian authority has blocked a total of 1,178 websites since November 2019.
