Scientific Games has obtained re-certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework, thus affirming its compliance with standards regarding player protection and ethical gaming practices.

This certification comes after an independent international audit evaluated the responsible gambling measures across Scientific Games’ global lottery operations to ensure that the company adheres to these crucial safety segments.

Scientific Games obtained its first World Lottery Association certification in 2015 for its European operations, and ever since, the company has achieved multiple recertifications.

In fact, in 2022, Scientific Games managed to achieve global WLA certification after it launched its Healthy Play responsible gambling program that provides lotteries with compliance,  educational resources, and responsible gambling tools.

The framework of the World Lottery Association is aimed at evaluating various responsible gambling aspects, and this includes employee training, research initiatives, engagement with gambling regulators, and responsible advertising practices.

Mélissa Azam, Senior Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for World Lottery Association, said:

Scientific Games has championed best-in-class integration of responsible gaming research and tools into online platforms. This reflects a thorough understanding of the company’s responsibilities as a gaming supplier committed to harm minimisation and ethical gaming practices.

Scientific Games Chief Executive Officer Pat McHugh commented:

We are dedicated to advancing our Healthy Play programme so that we can continue to give our lottery customers tools and best practices to strengthen the impact of their responsible gaming efforts by cultivating greater public trust.

At the moment, Scientific Games is in a joint, ongoing bit for the national lottery license of Italy, together with Brookfield, a private equity firm, and another iGaming giant, Flutter.

If all goes according to plan, this collaboration would see Scientific Games partner up with Flutter’s Italian lottery brand Sisal. The bidding process is still ongoing, and the deadline is scheduled for the 17th of March, 2025.
