Sportradar, a leading technology company within the iGaming realm, has secured a long-term extension of its partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB), one of the top 3 sports leagues in the US.

The extension of this partnership means that Sportradar and the MLB will continue reshaping the sports landscape in the country until 2032.

Sportradar and MLB first entered a partnership in 2014, with the two organizations agreeing to prolong their data and audiovisual (AV) content partnership for an additional seven years.

Under the contract extension, Sportradar will retain exclusive rights to distribute MLB’s data, AV feeds, and media content across global markets.

By partnering with the MLB, Sportradar will exclusively distribute MLB’s ultra-low latency official data, media content, including MLB Statcast Data, and AV content across its global client network, which spans 800 sportsbook clients and 900 media companies.

Kenny Gersh, MLB Executive VP of Media & Business Development, said:

Sportradar has been a great partner to MLB, particularly helping us navigate the legalization and continued evolution of the global sports betting landscape. Over the course of our partnership, Sportradar has consistently developed great products utilizing MLB’s best-in-class data. MLB is delighted to continue innovating with Sportradar to create engaging products and services for MLB fans globally.

However, perhaps the most exciting part of this partnership extension is the fact that MLB will acquire an equity stake in Sportradar, a move that will further strengthen its strategic alliance.

On top of this, both the MLB and Sportradar will work together to develop AI-powered products that will be specifically aimed at enhancing fan engagement and transforming their sports viewing experience.

Carsten Koerl, CEO of Sportradar, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership and said that this partnership will undeniably “bring fans closer to the game”:

We are excited to continue our long-standing collaboration with MLB. This renewed agreement marks a significant step forward in our journey together, allowing us to leverage cutting-edge technology to create innovative products that bring fans closer to the game.

This partnership announcement comes amid a busy period of major developments for Sportradar.

One of these is the recent expansion of its presence in Latin America by opening a new office in São Paulo, a move that will see the company position itself at the center of Brazil’s newly regulated sports betting market.
