Swedish gambling operator AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) released its Q3 2026 financial report, revealing a general contraction across core revenue streams that was partially counterbalanced by robust growth in its online casino division.
For Q3, total revenue fell 3% to SEK 1.42bn ($143m), net gaming revenue dropped 4% to SEK 1.25bn ($125.5m), and operating profit declined 10% to SEK 392m ($39.4m).
Performance across traditional verticals experienced downward pressure, with horse race betting revenue falling 6% and sports betting revenue decreasing by 9%. Conversely, online casino revenue served as a major operational highlight, surging 13%. International and subsidiary performance also provided positive momentum, as Denmark-based 25syv increased its net gaming revenue by 45% in Swedish kroner. For the first nine months of the fiscal year, net gaming revenue contracted 3% to SEK 3.76bn ($378.6m), while operating profit slipped 2% to SEK 1.08bn ($108.6m).
Executive commentary on competitiveness and Finnish expansion
Lotta Nilsson, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of ATG, commented on the results:
“ATG continues to have strong profitability, but the decline in horse and sports betting requires us to strengthen our offerings and our competitiveness. At the same time, the casino business and the Danish market are growing. We combine continued development with a focus on long-term profitability. We are developing our position in Sweden and at the same time taking advantage of the opportunities in the Nordics. Finland is a strategic step in our growth.”
The Q3 update arrives shortly after ATG announced that Hippos ATG, its joint venture with Suomen Hippos, successfully secured an iGaming licence under Finland’s newly introduced regulatory framework. This strategic entry into Finland represents a major milestone in ATG’s broader Nordic growth strategy. Additionally, in response to evolving market conditions, ATG revealed a trial reversal on its policy regarding welcome bonuses in September.
