Supervisory investigation and regulatory action
The Swedish Gambling Authority has enacted a temporary revocation of Charm Entertainment AB’s land based casino license, effective October 1, 2026. Under the terms of the order, the operator must immediately suspend all licensed gambling activities. The suspension will remain in force pending a final determination by the authority or until April 1, 2027, whichever comes first.
Spelinspektionen initiated its supervisory review of Charm Entertainment on May 27, 2026. The investigation evaluates the operator’s adherence to the Swedish Gambling Act as well as regulations concerning bookkeeping, accounting, and taxation. As part of its inquiry, the regulator scrutinized financial reports spanning from 2023 through 2025 alongside documentation related to a criminal preliminary investigation handled by the Sodertalje District Court. The authority emphasized that the temporary revocation is a precautionary measure during ongoing proceedings and does not constitute a final ruling.
Regulatory compliance and market oversight
The Swedish regulatory framework places strict obligations on licensed land based casino operators to maintain rigorous standards of corporate governance, accurate financial reporting, and absolute adherence to statutory taxation guidelines. Spelinspektionen retains broad enforcement powers to intervene swiftly whenever supervisory reviews uncover potential discrepancies or when external legal proceedings raise concerns regarding an operator’s suitability.
By enforcing temporary suspensions ahead of conclusive determinations, the regulatory body aims to safeguard the integrity of the Swedish gaming market and protect public interests from potential regulatory breaches while comprehensive legal and financial audits are finalized.
