MGM Resorts-Owned iGaming Company Expands In-House Betting Technology into Europe’s Largest Market Following Brazil and Sweden Rollouts

LeoVegas has officially launched its proprietary Tiger sportsbook in the UK, marking a major milestone for the Swedish iGaming company’s sports betting ambitions. Owned by MGM Resorts International, the firm has steadily worked to expand its sports betting proposition while transitioning its technology stack in-house. For many years, LeoVegas relied on fellow Swedish firm Kambi as its main sportsbook technology partner, extending that agreement until 2027 in July of last year. However, the ongoing international rollout of the Tiger sportsbook highlights the company’s shift toward managing its own betting operations independently.

International Expansion and Platform Milestones

The Tiger platform debuted in Brazil in January, followed by a June migration that transitioned all of LeoVegas’ home brands in Sweden onto the proprietary technology. This migration included Nye Expekt, LeoVegas’ homegrown sportsbook brand also active in Denmark, alongside BetMGM.

Adrian Vella, LeoVegas’ Chief Product and Technology Officer, commented:

“This marks one of the most significant moments in our two-year journey to build a world-class, proprietary sportsbook. Every market launch has helped us refine the platform, improve the customer experience and strengthen our competitive edge. Launching in the UK demonstrates our commitment to investing in our own technology – giving us the speed to innovate, greater flexibility and a strong foundation for long-term strategic growth.”

Strengthening BetMGM’s Footprint in the UK

Outside of the US, BetMGM has operated via the LeoVegas platform ever since MGM Resorts acquired the Swedish company for over $600m (£444m) in 2022. While BetMGM remains a joint venture between MGM and UK-based partner Entain within the US, international markets fall under MGM Resorts and LeoVegas’ purview. Bringing the Tiger sportsbook to the UK builds directly on the 2023 launch of BetMGM in the region, which stands as Europe’s largest betting market and a top-five global market.

James Derbyshire, LeoVegas’ Sports Director for the UK and Ireland, added:

“Launching our proprietary sportsbook, Tiger, in the UK is another huge milestone for the group. As one of the most competitive igaming markets in the world, I’m excited to see our customers enjoy the product and engage with some fantastic new sports betting features tailored specifically for the UK market. A massive well done to our global team, who’ve worked so hard to keep Tiger’s international rollout on track and deliver for our customers.”
