The first edition of the GC Briefing, the new monthly iGaming intelligence read from Gamblers Connect, is published. Issue 01 is anchored to the £243.1m Bally’s Intralot all share takeover of evoke, and covers the month of July across deals, regulation, people moves and named quotes, in a seven page PDF built for one clean read.

What the GC Briefing is

The GC Briefing is a monthly iGaming intelligence edition, published by Gamblers Connect and delivered to subscribers inside the first working week of each month. Each issue takes the month just closed and compresses it into seven sections: The Month (six numbers and six short stories), Deal Tracker (M and A, funding, sale processes), Regulatory Radar (dated deadlines inside the next ninety days), On the Move (senior appointments), The Month in Quotes (the lines that landed), and Contributor of the Month (a featured voice from the Gamblers Connect Contributors Program).

The format is deliberate. The read is designed to sit in one sitting, at desk pace, for operator, supplier, affiliate, and investor readers who want the month in a single pass rather than a scroll through thirty tab open sources. Every figure is traceable, every deadline is dated, every quoted voice is named.

Inside Issue 01: The £243m Reshuffle

Issue 01, titled The £243m Reshuffle, is anchored to the Bally’s Intralot all share takeover of evoke, the largest completed deal of the month at £243.1m. The cover read spells out what the transaction means for the wider UK betting map, and by extension for William Hill, 888, and the pricing of every distressed operator in Europe. The read runs alongside five other headline reads covering the UK regulatory pressure, the FIFA World Cup 2026 betting numbers, Gibraltar’s world first prediction market regime, the Alberta market launch, Evolution’s stormiest month, and Fanatics buying its own federally regulated exchange and clearing rails.

July in six numbers

The cover strip on Issue 01 sets out the month in six data points, all drawn from named primary sources inside the issue.

£4.75mEvolution Malta’s AML settlement with the UK Gambling Commission

The six stories on the front

UK Heat Rises on Every Front. The Gambling Commission confirmed it will press ahead with financial risk assessments despite BGC backlash, the CMS committee opened a probe into the regulator itself, and the Court of Appeal rejected the challenge over the fourth National Lottery licence. Entain publicly welcomed the government’s unlicensed gambling consultation.

The World Cup Cashes Out. The Spain and Argentina final capped a tournament that broke betting records everywhere: Kambi cleared 100 million bets, OpenBet and Norsk Tipping posted platform highs, and France’s ANJ confirmed record handle. Apptopia’s data showed prediction market apps overtaking sportsbooks during the knockouts.

Prediction Markets Get a Home. On 13 July Gibraltar became the first jurisdiction in the world with a bespoke prediction market regime, a standalone framework covering market integrity, contract approvals, surveillance and stablecoin settlement. ADI PredictStreet took the inaugural licence; Wire Markets received approval in principle.

Alberta Opens for Business. Canada’s second regulated online market went live on 13 July. Playtech, Play’n GO, Pragmatic Play, Greentube, Inspired, 1X2 Network, Peter and Sons and Gaming Corps all confirmed entries inside three weeks. GeoComply logged over three million checks in the launch window.

Evolution’s Stormiest Month. A billionaire at 30.02% with a mandatory bid clock ticking, the Galaxy Gaming acquisition cancelled after US approval delays, and a £4.75m UKGC settlement, all in one July. Going private speculation is no longer fringe.

Fanatics Buys Its Own Rails. Fanatics agreed on 27 July to acquire Water Street Labs, a CFTC registered exchange, and CX Clearinghouse, a registered clearinghouse, from BGC Group. Fanatics Markets can now list and clear its own federally regulated contracts across 23 states.

The rest of the issue at a glance

Deal Tracker runs six M and A, funding and sale processes for July in a single table, from Bally’s Intralot and evoke through to Bragg and Drayton, with the one line that matters against each.

Regulatory Radar logs six dated regulatory events across the next ninety days, from Sweden’s mandatory bid deadline on 21 August through to Alberta’s October transition deadline, split into High priority hard deadlines and Watch level consultations.

On the Move tracks eight senior appointments and new roles across the month, including Richard Harris (CEO, Rank Group), Antoine Jouteau (CEO, Banijay Gaming), Katarina Polach Klčovská (CEO, SYNOT), Virginie Christnacht (CCO, FDJ United), and Måns Svalborn (CFO).

The Month in Quotes carries eight editorial lines that landed against the month’s biggest moves, from the Bally’s Intralot repricing read through to the Kenneth Dart clock on Evolution.

Contributor of the Month features Gali Hartuv, Strategic Advisor at The Playa and a Gamblers Connect Contributors Program voice, with three questions on the VIP survey, the AI question, and what participants get for their ten minutes.
