The official flag of Indiana representing the state's latest gaming commission revenue report.

The state of Indiana has reported a significant resurgence in its sports betting activity for October, driven by a bustling sports calendar that reignited player interest across the board.

According to the latest data released by the Indiana Gaming Commission, the state’s total sports betting handle climbed to an impressive $611.6 million for the month.

This figure represents a robust 15 per cent increase compared to September, signaling a strong start to the final quarter of the year.

The surge in wagering activity translated directly into financial gains for operators and the state alike. Taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for the month reached $43.9 million, providing a healthy boost to the state’s tax coffers, which collected $4.2 million from sports betting operations in October alone.

The growth was underpinned by the consistent performance of the state’s leading operators. Ameristar Casino maintained its dominance at the top of the market, processing $219.8 million in wagers and generating $14.7 million in AGR.

Blue Chip Casino secured the second spot with a handle of $198.3 million and $13.4 million in revenue, while Hollywood Lawrenceburg rounded out the top three with $58.3 million in handle and $4 million in AGR.

In terms of betting preferences, parlays continued to be the most popular choice among Indiana bettors, accounting for a massive $230 million of the total handle.

This high-margin bet type remains a crucial revenue driver for sportsbooks. Among individual sports, football predictably led the charge, contributing $169.5 million to the monthly total.

Basketball followed with $70.1 million, reflecting the start of the NBA season, while baseball added $38.2 million during its postseason climax.

Beyond the digital numbers, the land-based sector is also seeing renewed activity. Local officials in Steuben County have signaled their readiness to re-enter discussions regarding the potential relocation of casino licenses.

Following a recent land study by the Indiana Gaming Commission that identified strategic development zones, the Steuben County Board of Commissioners confirmed their interest in attracting a casino project, specifically eyeing the high-traffic intersection of Interstate 69 and the Indiana Toll Road.

This renewed engagement suggests that the state of Indiana sports betting landscape could see significant structural changes in the near future.
