Costura Cidadã Project Earns Nomination in the Responsible Business of the Year Category
Esportes Gaming Brasil (EGB), operator of Esportes da Sorte, Onabet, and Lottu, has been shortlisted for the Global Gaming Awards Americas 2026 in the Responsible Business of the Year category. The official winners will be announced on September 28 at The Venetian in Las Vegas during the Global Gaming Expo (G2E).
Empowering Local Communities Through the Costura Cidadã Initiative
The nomination is directly tied to Costura Cidadã (Citizen Sewing), a community-focused project launched during the Olinda Carnival that centers on income generation, skills development, and supporting the local creative economy. Through the initiative, more than 80 local women received specialized training in sewing and textile production, going on to manufacture items utilized in the brand’s Carnival activations, including the event’s official banner.
Marcela Campos, Vice President of Esportes Gaming Brasil Group, commented:
“Our focus is on being present within local communities, providing meaningful support and creating a lasting social and environmental legacy. Seeing the Costura Cidadã project recognised by an international award reinforces our commitment to combining investment in culture and entertainment with strengthening local economies and promoting social and environmental responsibility.”
Broad Social and Environmental Impact Across Brazil
Beyond Costura Cidadã, EGB’s comprehensive 2026 Carnival programme encompassed several other impactful community initiatives:
- Support for Street Vendors: Provided licensed street vendors in Olinda with customized stalls and work kits, while backing over 40 historic Carnival groups and associations.
- Waste Collector Assistance: Supported recyclable waste collectors in Recife and Salvador by providing training, personal protective equipment (PPE), hydration support, and daily cash incentives.
- Local Manufacturing: Commissioned local businesses in Caicó (Rio Grande do Norte) to produce a portion of the promotional caps and hats utilized in brand activations.
Independent Adjudication and Media Visibility
The Global Gaming Awards Americas judging panel consists of senior gaming industry executives, with the entire selection process independently adjudicated by KPMG. According to EGB, the supporting documentation for the nomination was compiled primarily through media coverage surrounding the Costura Cidadã project.
Iury Tavares, Press Manager at Esportes Gaming Brasil, added:
“It’s particularly meaningful that this nomination was built primarily on the strength of the media coverage surrounding the project. It demonstrates how effective communications can increase the visibility of social impact initiatives and help best practices reach audiences far beyond their local communities.”
